Chiefs host their annual relays

Bellefontaine’s boys and girls track and field teams host the annual Chieftain Relays on Friday at AcuSport Stadium, with the host squad taking fifth in the girls meet and the boys team seventh in the eight-team field.

Benjamin Logan was the other local representative in the meet and both of the Raider squads finished in fourth.

Marysville won the boys meet with 107 points. Delaware Hayes was the runner-up with 79 points, Lima Shawnee was third (67.5) and Ben Logan was fourth (59.5). The Chiefs were seventh with 51 points.

In the girls meet, Marysville won with 91 points, Delaware Hayes was second (81), Columbus DeSales finished third (67), Benjamin Logan was fourth (64) and the Chiefs had 59 points for their fifth-place finish.

Bellefontaine’s girls team was headlined by the winning sprint medley team of Raniyah Brown, Callie Shumaker, Ava Reeves and Kylie Adams, which set a new meet record with a time of 1:50.99.

Also getting wins were the shot put group of Perri Neeld, Lexi Robinson and Kelsie Snapp (97-5) and the discus relay group of Neeld, Robinson and Snapp (303-8).

The long jump team of Parker Penhorwood, Reeves and Adams was second (44-3), while the high jump tam of Kaileigh Flora, Rylie Reames and Shumaker took third (13-2).

Finishing fourth were the 400 relay team of Reniyah Brown, Kylie Adams, Ava Reeves and Callie Shumaker (51.10), the 800 relay team of Brown, Adams, Shumaker and Reeves (1:53.54) and the pole vault team of Parker Penhorwood and Harper Penhorwood (15-0).

Taking seventh were the 3,200 relay team of Kailyn Newman, Kaeleigh Flora, Montanna Buck and Harper Penhorwood (11:38.09) and the distance medley of Flora, Harper Penhorwood, Buck and Newman (11:22.04).

Bellefontaine’s boys team had one first-place finish as the shot put team of Sullivan Ashcraft, Declan Shannon and Haiden Manns took the top spot (139-1.5).

Taking second was the discus team of Ashcraft, Shannon and Manns (243-8), while finishing third was the pole vault group of Jeffrey Smith and Carter Kuhn (20-6).

Fifth-place finishes went to the shuttle hurdles team of James Holt, Ethan Orahood, Kuhn and Nas Valmore (1:08.23), the distance medley of Carter Snapp, Zavier May, Gavin WIlson and Tony Stewart (8:56.02)and the 800 relay team of Jack Hutchins, Kaiden Foulk, Vansh Patel and Max Varner (1:36.81).

The high jump group of Collin Deitsch and Jair Mundy placed sixth (10-9).

Adding seventh-place finishes for the Chiefs were the 400 relay team of Hutchins, Patel, Foulk and Varner (45.9), the 6,400 relay team of Marcel Collins, Seth Taylor, Stewart and Hayden Maus (20:32), the long jump group of Orahood, Deitsch and Holt (51-1.5), the sprint medley team of Hutchins, Foulk, Kuhn and Patel (1:42.35) and the 3,200 relay team of Seth Taylor, Wes Dunn, Hayden Maus and Stewart (9:17.59).

Raiders have strong showing

Ben Logan represented itself well in a field of tough competition Friday.

On the boys side, the Raiders were led by the winning discus group of Mason Jackson, Lucas Hemmelgarn and Hayden Godwin (357-4).

Taking second were the long jump group of Trevor Berry, Evan Carpenter and Ethan Miller (55 1/4), while third-place efforts for the Ben Logan boys came from the shot put team of Jackson, Hemmelgarn and Berry (129-8), Carpenter in the pole vault (10-0) and the high jump team of Matthew Beikman, Miller and Roman Maxwell (15-6).

Ben Logan received fourth-place finishes from the shuttle hurdle team of Hunter Lattimer, Carte Buck, Robert Leezer and Yale Scheiderer (1:05.95) and the 800 relay team of Lattimer, Scheiderer, Ben Chamberlain and Sam Whitten (1:35.02).

Contributing sixth-place finishes were the sprint medley team of Leezer, Chamberlain, Whitten and Lattimer (1:41.51), the distance medley of Kendahl Stanley, Dylan Vance, Tyler Shoopman and Eric Hughes (8:57.46), the 400 relay team of Lattimer, Berry, Chamberlain and Whitten (45.23), the 3,200 relay team of Eric Hughes, Leezer, Shoopman and Stanley and the 1,600 relay team of Dylan Vance, Scheiderer, Hughes and Chamberlain (3:40.52).

Taking eighth was the 6,400 relay team of Micah Ackley, Parker Sutherly, Landon Zehner and Devon Kimble (23:59).

Ben Logan’s girls team was powered by the winning shuttle hurdles group of Kate Gulick, Lexi Archer, Macy Matthews and Hannah White (1:09.59) and the winning long jump crew of Isabel Henderson, Hannah White and Mya Burrey.

The Raiders’ 1,600 relay team of Mylee Boysel, Gulick, Burrey and Henderson placed second (4:15.18), while third-place finishes went to the discus group of Alanna Gibson, Lauren Hemmelgarn and Addie Huffman and the pole vault duo of Scarlett Elliott and Lexi Sutherly.

The shot put group of Gibson, Hemmelgarn and Lahna Cook placed fourth, the distance medley team of Mylee Boysel, Archer, Hadley Boysel and Estella Wenger was fifth and the 400 relay team of Gulick, Burrey, White and Henderson finished fifth in a new school-record time of 51.30.

Also for the Lady Raiders, the 3,200 relay team of Mylee Boysel, Archer, Wenger and Peyton Smith was sixth (11:07.99), the high jump group of Henderson, Bailey Lewis and Ella Chamberlain finished sixth and the sprint medley team of Lewis, Taytum Daniels, Mercedes Marcinko and Chamberlain was eighth (2:06.70) and the 6,400 relay team of Smith, Hadley Boysel, Allie Fay and Natalie Chapman finished seventh (28:18.62).
Lady Lakers take second at Graham

Indian Lake’s girls track and field team finished second out of 18 teams at the Graham Invitational on Friday.

Indian Lake compiled 104.75 points.

Elayna Richardson led the way for the IL girls, winning the 100 (12.86), 200 (26.1) and the 400 (1:00). She also teamed up with Reece Martin, Cameron Finfrock and Reagan Rash to win the 1600 relay (4:15).

Reece Martin was second in the 100 hurdles (16.61) and second in the 300 m hurdles (50.97), and Grace Pequignot was second in the shot put (36-8.5) for the Lakers.

Stephanie Altstaetter was third in shot put (35-8.75), the 3,200 relay team of Hannah Metzger, Reagan Rash, KaiLea Miller and Evie Wagner placed third (11:04), Rash was fourth in the 1,600 (5:53) and Wagner was fourth in the 3,200 (13:19)

Placing fifth for the Lakers were Maddie Miller in the discus (97-11) and the 400 relay team of Reece Martin, Riley Ross, Addison Beck and Grace Pequignot (55.19), while sixth-place efforts went to KaiLea Miller in the 800 (2:42) and Meadow McCullough in the high jump (4-8).

Finishing seventh were Ava Faler the in pole vault (7-0) and Altstaetter in the discus (96-11).

Adding eighth-place finishes were KaiLea Miller in the 1,600 (6:03), Hannah Metzger in the 3,200 (13:30), and the 800 relay team of Cameron Finfrock, Riley Ross, Ashlynn Biederman and Meadow McCullough (1:58).

Indian Lake’s boys team also competed and finished 11th.

Brant Parsell was second in the 300 hurdles and fourth in the 110hurdles (17.22), Isaac Morrison placed sixth in the long jump (18-1), Caiden Gauntt placed seventh in the long jump (18-1) and the 1,600 relay team of Issac Morrison, Brant Parsell, Drake Crosby and Tony Cummins placed seventh (3:47).

WL-S boys second, girls 4th at Minster

West Liberty-Salem’s boys track and field team placed second out of 16 teams, while the girls squad was fourth in the Minster Invitational on Saturday.

Leading the WL-S boys with second-place efforts were Logan Phillips in the 110 hurdles (15.38), Quentin Rudolph in the 800 (2:03.49), Jack Bahan in the 200 (23.77) and Asher Knox in the 3,200 (9:59.34).

Taking third for the Tigers were Phillips in the 300 hurdles (42.11), the 400 relay of Bradley Petry, Jack Bahan, Jackson Steider and Phillips (46.19) and the 3,200 relay team of Rudolph, Asher Knox, Micah Smith and Harrison (8:26.37).

Owen Harrison was fourth in the 3,200 (10.28) and finishing fifth were Bahan in the 100 (11.47), Dylan King in the 1,600 (4:47.44) and Smith in the 400 (54.67).

Taking sixth were Steider in the long jump (19-0.50) and Slayde Merriman in the pole vault (11-6) and finishing seventh were Joey LaRoche in the 1,600 (4:50.51), Troy Bradley in the 400 (54.69) and Mark Bair in the discus (123-1) and shot put (42-3).

Adding eighth-place efforts were Steider in the 110 hurdles (17.98) and 300 hurdles (45.40), Gabe McGill in the 100, Craig Stanford in the pole vault (10-0), the 800 relay team of Smith, Bradley, Bradley Petry and Lincoln Henderson (1:39.39) and the 1,600 relay team of Smith, Bradley, Henderson and Lauck (3:49.10).

Leading the Lady Tigers was Sophia Hardwick, who finished second in the 300 hurdles (48.85).

Taking third for WL-S were the 3,200 relay team of Mallory Bostick, Ashley Yoder, Teagan Boyd and Breece Gullett (10:13.56) and Isabella Hardwick in the discus (101-3).

Placing fourth were the 800 relay team of Sophia Hardwick, Gwen McCullough, Claire Longshore and Mallory Bostick (1:52.99), while placing fifth were Sophia Hardwick in the 100 hurdles (16.77) and Elise Longshore in the pole vault (9-0).

Taking sixth were Malia Miller in the 3,200 (12:45.53), the 400 relay team of Tori Douthwaite, Elise Longshore, Chloe Griffith and Gwen McCullough (53.77) and Kenzie Bahan in the shot put (31-1.50).

Taking seventh were Ashley Yoder in the 1,600 (5:40.04) and finishing eighth was the 800 relay team of Claire Longshore, Teagan Boy, Gullett and Bostick (4:31.09).

Calvary competes at North Union

Calvary Christian’s track and field teams participated in the Virg Rankin Invitational at North Union.

The Calvary girls team was led by Abigail Reinhard, who was third in the 300 hurdles (school record time of 52.9) and fourth in the 100 hurdles (19.39).

Anastacia Rogan was sixth in the 100 (14.34), seventh in the long jump (13-6) and eighth in the 200 (school record time of 29.1).

For the CC boys team, Caleb King was sixth in the long jump (18-3.75), Ephraim Daniels placed eighth in the 400 (54.89) and the 800 relay team of Clay Howard, Christian Rogan, Nehemiah Dillon and Ian Schmidt was eighth (1:41.81).
