Calvary ChristianSchool representatives recently spent time at the Ohio Statehouse and the Supreme Court of Ohio in Columbus for a threeday Youth in Government Middle School Youth & Government Seminars.
Students and adult leaders from Calvary Christian School included Lili Printz, Madhuri Cook, Abigail Reinhard, Madelyn Trittschuh, Aly Reames, Anastacia Rogan, Stacy Rogan, Bobbie Trittschuh, Natalie Wish, Karys Varner, Ruby Slemmons, Jodi Varner and Melissa Printz.
Sponsored by the Ohio- West Virginia Youth Leadership Association, the seminars are an opportunity for youths to learn more about their state government by observing their state officials in action.
During the seminar, the students and their teachers met with their legislators, experienced how a bill becomes a law, toured the inner workings of the Statehouse, saw the Supreme Court of Ohio, and participated in a Mock Legislative and a Mock Judicial session.
Special guests meeting with the youths included Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose and John Carey, Director of the Governor’s Office of Appalachia.
