Carolyn Jo Fries, age 85, of Jacksonville, Florida, went home to be with the Lord on August 10, 2023, in Jacksonville surrounded by her loving children, grandchildren and family.

Carolyn was born on March 6, 1938, in Dearborn, Michigan. She was proceeded in death by her parents Ralph & Louise Sargent.

She is survived by her sister Miriam Hoy of Sidney, Ohio, 5 children, Mark (Vivian) Brewer of Mount Victory, Charles (Ginger) Brewer of Orange Park, FL, Hugh (Tammy) Brewer of Dandridge, TN, Jeff (Donna) Overholser of St. Johns, FL and Janis (Brad) Taylor of Spencer, TN, 7 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 11 step great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren, 1 niece and 2 nephews.

She was raised with her sister Miriam in Bellefontaine, Ohio, and attended Bellefontaine High School. Carolyn raised her children in Bellefontaine and Troy, Ohio.

She moved to South Florida in the early eighties and at retirement she moved to Jacksonville, Florida to be near her sons where she lived the remainder of her life.
Carolyn was a loving but strong, independent, and fearless woman. She raised five children and opened their hearts to Jesus and the importance of faith. She also encouraged her children to always keep in close touch with their siblings. Her children were everything to her and anyone that truly knew her clearly understood this.

She enjoyed the ocean and beaches, collecting seashells, camping, plants, sewing, crafting, traveling, animals and being with her family who she loved with all her heart.
She will be deeply missed by all of those who loved her. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
