Multiple narcotics were recovered from a felony traffic stop conducted shortly before 7 p.m., Saturday June 22, by officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department.
Luis Cacho, 27, of New Carlisle, was observed by officers on patrol operating a maroon Ford truck westbound along the 200 block of east Sandusky Avenue with only one functional brake light. A traffic stop was initiated for the brake light violation and as the driver was preparing to stop, officers reported he was making several movements around the truck.
Upon making contact with Cacho, officers report he was very nervous and visibly shaking. The odor of burnt marijuana was reported from the truck, but Cacho initially denied possessing any other drugs.
A probable cause search of the truck was conducted. A small amount of marijuana was located inside a plastic wrapper, and also a marijuana bong with freshly burnt marijuana in it. In the driver’s door, methamphetamine was located inside a wallet. There was also a straw in the driver’s door with a white residue and a one-dollar bill folded in the driver’s door which contained suspected cocaine.
Multiple shortened straws were found throughout the truck consistent with snorting narcotics. Cacho was detained and admitted to having used cocaine in the past and to methamphetamine use earlier in the day.
He was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia, and was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
