There’s a new machine dispensing fun, fiction and facts at Indian Lake Elementary School.

This winter, the ILES PTO purchased and donated a book vending machine located in the cafeteria.

Principal Molly Hall, Assistant Principal Pam Scarpella, PTO President Ashley Brentlinger and some students officially cut the ribbon to open the vending machine this week.

The machine accepts only special gold coins to dispense books. Each staff member has a coin they can periodically award to a student who they think is in the Laker Zone or setting a good example for others.

Mrs. Hall selected second-grader Kennedy Sanders to cut the ribbon and choose the first book from the machine.

Brentlinger said the PTO purchased the book vending machine from BookVending.com after a relative told her of the machine and how much children in her school enjoy the treat of getting a book instead of candy.
