Benjamin Logan Middle School has been awarded a $10,000 grant from the Martha Holden Jennings Foundation to support year two of the Writing Across the Curriculum Professional Development Series for the 2024-2025 school year.
In collaboration with the Midwest Regional Educational Service Center (MRESC) and Collins Education Associates (CEA), this initiative aims to enhance the writing skills of students across all subjects through the full implementation of the Collins Writing Program.
This funding will help offset the costs associated with several focused days of professional learning and coaching provided by CEA. These sessions will include whole and small group modeling, targeted coaching, and classroom observations, tailored to the specific needs of different grade bands and content areas.
Consultants from CEA will be available throughout the school year to model strategies, offer concrete examples, and provide direct feedback and support to teachers. The goal is to ensure that these effective practices and strategies are incorporated into classrooms with fidelity, ultimately enhancing the skill sets and instructional practices of teachers.
“Benjamin Logan Middle School is committed to providing quality education and is excited to continue this journey with the support of the Martha Holden Jennings Foundation,” school officials said.
