Benjamin Logan High School trumpet player Isaac Napier, right, and trombone player Ras-D Ahnute, left, were selected to play in the Ohio Music Education Association’s All-State Jazz Ensemble Saturday, Feb. 4. This year’s All-State Jazz Ensemble was conducted by Pharez Whitted, pictured, center, with the two BLHS students. Whitted is an American jazz trumpeter and educator from Indianapolis. He is also the Jazz Director for Chicago’s Youth Symphony Orchestra. “The OMEA All-State Jazz Ensemble played great over the weekend. Ras-D and Isaac knocked it out of the park; they offered great solos at the performance, and represented our school at the highest level. I’m so proud of them,” BLHS Jazz Band Director Myles Bowers said. (Benjamin Logan Photo)
