The annual Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Awards Program and Luncheon recognized a Benjamin Logan High School student April 18 at the Nationwide Hotel & Conference Center in Lewis Center.

Isaac Napier, a son of Daniel and Stephanie Napier of Zanesfield, was named this year’s Logan County nominee. He has achieved this honor by virtue of his outstanding academic achievement, personal accomplishments, and community service.

Isaac has been accepted at Michigan State University to study Jazz Studies and Mathematics. He hopes to further both his musical and mathematical education in order to prepare himself for a professional career.

The Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic Award was established in 1989 by OESCA to honor Franklin B. Walter, one of their past Ohio State Superintendents and to recognize one top student scholar from each county in Ohio.

Franklin B. Walter served as state superintendent from March 1977 until August 1991. Throughout his career, Dr. Walter has exemplified concern for young people and has dedicated his life to the improvement of education in Ohio.

Applications are evaluated by three different reviewers and scored based on criteria such as Grade Point Average, course rigor, community service, extracurricular activities, awards and recognitions, essay, and letters of recommendation.
