The Bellefontaine Intermediate School robotics team fared well in their first-ever competition at North Union.

The Chiefs finished 26th out of 41 teams and earned the prestigious Judges’ Award.
The BIS Bacon Bots team members are fifth-graders Griffin Burkhardt, Garrett Gossard, Matthew Torsell, Jerome Wickham and Camden Vollrath.

The kids worked countless hours building their bot and creating autonomous programming for a series of different skills. They also kept an engineering notebook of their entire process and problem-solving journey.

The engineering notebook was reviewed by a team of professionals from the community. Along with this review, teams were interviewed. All of these skills combined with a positive attitude went into selecting a team to win the judges award.

“We’re so proud of the Bacon Bots and their showcase of grit, charisma, and teamwork,” Burkhardt said.
