Betty L. Howell, 92, lifelong resident of Urbana, Ohio passed away on Friday, February 17, 2023, in her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born March 24, 1930, in Urbana, Ohio the daughter of Harry and Sarah (Huffman) Robinson. She was a graduate of Urbana High School. Betty was a lifelong member of St. Paul AME, where she started teaching Sunday school at 12 years old. She adored the kids in the neighborhood. In her free time, she spent her time at the Urbana Champaign County Senior Center and the YMCA. She enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, tending to the flowers in her garden, watching and feeding the birds and attending neighborhood parades.
Betty is survived by her daughters; Sharon (James) Parker of North Lewisburg, Beth (Greg) Tullis of Urbana; sons, Robert M. Howell of North Lewisburg, John Richard Howell of Urbana; grandchildren, Eric (Jessica) Parker, John (Jessica) Howell Jr., Marley (Nick) Monetta; great grandchildren, Zion and Zeke Parker; sister Sarah Seward; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Homer Howell Jr.; brothers Richard and Robert Robinson; daughter in law, Claudia Howell.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the care given to their mother from Comfort Keepers, especially Jessika and from Affinity Hospice, especially Stephanie and Anita.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, February 23, in Vernon Funeral Home, Urbana, Ohio.
Funeral service will begin at noon in the funeral home with Rev. Michael Menefield officiating.
Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.
