Betty Imogene Lindsey passed away on November 6, 2023, at 11 a.m. She now joins her childhood sweetheart and husband in Heaven.

Betty was born July 28, 1924, in Marion, Ohio to the late Samuel and Octa Della Cooley Matteson. On December 20, 1946, she married Jack C. Lindsey, M.D. who preceded her in death October 15, 1994.

Betty graduated from Madison Memorial High School 1942 and Ashtabula General Hospital School of Nursing September 1945. Following her graduation she responded to Jack’s request to come to Columbus, Ohio where he was in medical training so they could be married. She followed him in his training to Florida, California, Michigan and finally Kenton, Ohio, where he established his medical practice in 1956. Betty enjoyed a life of service to her community thru The First Baptist Church, Painter Creek Grange, Red Cross Bloodmobile, and Women’s clubs in Kenton, Ohio.

Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She is survived by 4 sons, Everett R. (Patricia) Lindsey, M.D. of Mineral Point, WI, David E. (Loryn) Lindsey M.D. of Upper Arlington, Ohio, Douglas H. (Terri) Lindsey, M.D. of Huntsville, Ohio, and Mark A. Lindsey, M.D. of Plain City, Ohio and one daughter Katherine A. (Glen) Crawford, R.N. of Merritt Island, FL.

She was a grandmother to 19 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 5 brothers, Jacob Matteson, Clifford Matteson, Lewis Matteson, Paul Matteson, Othel Matteson (as an infant) and 4 sisters, Sybil Reichenbach, Ruby Van Meter, Daisy White, and Edna Obenour Freeman.

She was lovingly cared for by Terri Clark and Donna Conrad as well as all the staff at Homestead Assisted Living and Hospice.

Services will be at the First Baptist Church November 17, 2023, assisted by Schindewolf-Stout-Crates funeral home in Kenton, Ohio. Burial will be in Grove Cemetery, Kenton, Ohio following the service. Officiating the service will be Pastor Craig Mansfield and Pastor BJ Thomsen of The First Baptist Church of Kenton, Ohio.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m.- noon at The First Baptist Church with the service from 12:30-12:45 p.m. and graveside services from 1-1:15 p.m. A dinner at the church will follow at 1:30 p.m.
