With the pair of wins, the Raiders improve to 3-8 overall, rallying from behind in both contests on Saturday.

A three-run double off the bat of Hayden Kennaw in the bottom of the fifth inning broke a 4-4 tie and proved to be the difference. Kennaw went 2-3 on the game, including those three RBI.

Chiefs win CBC, non-conference road games

Bellefontaine’s baseball team has won two in a row after defeating Urbana on Friday in a Central Buckeye Conference matchup, and dispatching Marysville on Saturday in a non-league game.

The Chiefs defeated Urbana 6-5 on Friday and came away Saturday with a 6-2 win against Marysville. Both victories came on the road, and push the Chiefs record to 3-6, 1-5.

The Chiefs scored two in the first inning Friday against Urbana to go ahead 2-0, but that lead was short lived as the Hillclimbers responded with a pair of runs of their own in the bottom half of the first to tie the game, 2-2.

The score remained 2-2 heading into the fifth when the Chiefs scored three times to go ahead for good. Urbana responded with a single run of their own in the bottom of the frame to make the score 5-3.

The Chiefs added an insurance run in the top of the seventh. The Chiefs staved off a late rally from the Hillclimbers, who scratched across two runs in the bottom of the seventh to make it interesting, before finally succumbing, 6-5.

Bellefontaine was active on the base paths in this one, stealing seven bases including two each from Zane Tevis, Lane Reeves and Riley Neer.

Reeves led the way for the Chiefs, going 2-4 with two RBI. He also earned the win on the mound, tossing seven innings and striking out six.

Saturday, Keyon Collier threw a complete game to earn the win on the mound, and Owen Larison and Reeves each drove in two runs as the Chiefs knocked off Marysville in a non-league game.

Marysville outhit the Chiefs 10-6, but Bellefontaine was able to manufacture enough runs to earn the victory, as Collier pitched out of trouble and kept Marysville off the board. A four-run third inning proved to be the difference for the Chiefs. Marysville managed only single tallies in the third and sixth innings. The Chiefs scored two more in the top of the seventh to secure the win.

The Chiefs are back in action today at Shawnee.
