Ben Logan students approved for free admission to fall sports

The Benjamin Logan Board of Education met in special session Tuesday evening, Aug. 6, to address various action items and personnel matters.

The board approved a measure for the 2024 fall sports season. All K-12 Benjamin Logan students will receive free admission. However, students in sixth-grade and below must be accompanied by an adult. 

Instructions on how to redeem the student pass through Hometown Ticketing will be provided soon, school officials said. 

Additionally, the board approved the cost of an individual adult athletic pass for the entire 2024-25 school year at $120. Family passes are no longer available. 

Senior citizens can obtain passes at no charge by visiting the Central Office between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Senior citizens passes never expire.

The board also handled a number of personnel matters, including accepting the resignation of custodian Chad Jordan, effective Aug. 13. 

Members also approved the reassignment of Kandie Brown from Elementary School Custodian to Educational Assistant  for the 2024-25 school year.

New hires approved for one-year limited contracts, effective from Aug. 1, 2024, to July 31, 2025, are food service employees Jennifer Black, Erica Caudill and Kira Perez. 

Supplemental contracts approved for 2024-2025 are: Eric Nichols – middle school football; Stacy McLaughlin – high school guard/majorette/flag advisor; and Jane Hough – middle school art club adviser; supplemental exceptions: Brooke Smith – elementary school technology assistant; and Jason Smith – district testing coordinator; and volunteer Kyndal Cronkleton – middle school volleyball. 

The board also entered into an executive session for the discussion of employment/personnel and subsequently returned to open session.
