Ben Logan boys first, girls fourth at CBC swim meet

The Ben Logan boys took first place out of 11 teams a the Central Buckeye Conference swim meet on Saturday.

The girls team placed fourth, and was the highest finisher for Mad River Division schools.

Liam Sweeney won the 200 individual medley and was second in the 100 butterfly.

Carter Daniels took second in the 100 breaststroke.

Other top finishes were Dylan Vance, third in the 100 backstroke; Utah Coleman, third in the 200 freestyle; Landon Braddock fourth in the 100 freestyle and fifth in the 50 free; Wyatt Gordon, fifth in the 100 butterfly; Jerrick Stephens, fifth in the 100 free; 

Additional results included: Holden Zehner, 9th, 200 free and 11th,100 back; Joe Meeker, 7th 200 IM and 9th, 100 breast; Taavo Simovart, 9th, 200 IM and 10th, 500 free; Daniels, 6th, 50 free, Stephens, 8th, 50 free; Levi Hanson, 6th, 100 fly and 8th, 100 back; Finch Hone, 9th, 100 fly; Utah Coleman, 6th, 500 free; Colton Walley, 9th, 100 back; and Gordon, 8th, 100 breast.

In relay results, Sweeney, Stephens, Braddock and Daniels were the winners in the 200 free. Vance, Daniels, Sweeney and Coleman took second in the 200 medley; while Vance, Coleman, Stephens and Braddock took third in the 400 free.

For the girls, Annika Chappell was third in the 100 backstroke.

Chappell was fourth in the 200 freestyle. Kelly Forsythe was seventh and Montana Coleman eighth.

Fiona Sweeney was eighth in the 200 individual medley. Kaydence Hamlin was 10th and Kyle Curtis 12th.

In the 50 freestyle, Leah Braddock was seventh and Annika Schmidt eighth. Schmidt was 11th in the 100 free.

Taking seventh through ninth in the 100 butterfly were Winnie Bodin, Lottie Bodin and Hamlin.

Sweeney took fifth and Forsythe eighth in the 500 free.

Leah Braddock was 10th and Lottie Bodin 12th in the 100 breaststroke.

In the 200 medley relay, Chappell, Winnie Bodin, Lottie Bodin and Sweeney were fourth.

The 200 free relay of Schmidt, Braddock, Junah Tingley and Lottie Bodin placed fourth. In the 400 free relay, Chappell, Winnie Bodin, Schmidt and Sweeney came in fifth.

WRESTLING

Raiders second at invite

The Benjamin Logan wrestlers took second place at their own invitational Saturday.

The Raiders had 213 points, with Wapakoneta scoring 236 1/2 to take first.

Third place went to Troy with 154.

Tournament champions for the Raiders were Kyle Kibler (138 pounds), Owen Weaks (144), and Hayden Hites (165).

Ethan Carpenter (175) and Owen Jordan (190) finished second in their brackets. Jeremiah Parker (120) and Carter Buck (132) had third-place finishes.

Cooper Buck (126) and Levi Achor (215) were fifth and Kendall Plikerd (150) was sixth. Also wrestling were Charles Neer, Max Troth and Cole Somerlot.

BHS hosts girls tournament

Bellefontaine hosted the Iron Maiden girls wrestling tournament this past weekend.

A total of 63 high school teams and 45 middle school teams were in attendance.

Rylee Yelton of Bellefontaine went 3-2 and finished seventh. Ari Rangel was also 3-2.

The middle school team finished eighth.

Kiser Jones was 3-1 and took second place at 104 pounds. Chloe Knox went 4-1 to take third at 98 pounds. Rylan Hoskins-Rose was 4-2 and took fourth place at 110. Finishing sixth were Addis Smith (4-2) and Bentley Drake (3-3).

Bellefontaine travels to Toledo for an invitational this weekend.
