It was a memorable week for a pair of local horseshoe pitchers.
Bellefontaine resident Ed Hildreth won his class at the World Horseshoe Pitchers Championships in Lansing, Mich.
West Liberty’s Don Epps also competed and finished ninth in his class and then sixth in the Elder’s championships.
Hildreth compiled a sterling record of 14-1 to win the Elders Class CI. He had a ringer percentage of 60.67.
Epps had a record of 7-8 in Elders A1. He recorded a ringer percentage of 60.67.
Then, competing against the best Elders pitchers in the world in the three-day championship, he was 10-5 for his sixth-place 
finish. He had a ringer percentage of 71.23.
Hildreth and Epps have competed in numerous tournaments at the state, national and world levels.
