Bellefontaine’s boys tennis team jolts Urbana

Tennis bBellefontaine’s boys tennis team stayed in first place in the Central Buckeye Conference on Wednesday with a 4-1 victory over host Urbana.

The Chiefs are now 11-1 in the league and 14-3 overall.

Bellefontaine swept the three singles matches.

Truman Howell prevailed 6-2, 6-0 over Brayden Spriggs at first singles, the Chiefs’ Xavier Sims won 6-0, 6-1 over Max Cobb at second singles and Max Fissel defeated Louie Astacaan 6-1, 6-4 at third singles.

Urbana’s Michael Holland and Sam Wilhelm beat Drew Phillips and Trey Taylor 7-5, 6-2 at first doubles.

Bellefontaine won the second doubles match by forfeit.

The Chiefs are back in action today with a pivotal CBC matchup at second-place Northwestern.
