Bellefontaine Municipal Court’s first ‘Safe Surrender Day’ slated for Oct. 12

For the very first time, the Bellefontaine Municipal Court, 226 W. Columbus Ave., hosts a Safe Surrender Day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 12.

This is an opportunity for any person, who has an outstanding arrest warrant, to appear at court to address the unresolved issue, Municipal Court Judge Ann E. Beck explained.

“Those who appear will not be subject to arrest and will not incur court cost fees for the warrant. Court staff will be available all day to resolve the issues, whether it be setting up a payment plan, scheduling a new trial or pre-trial date, obtaining court appointed counsel, or resolving the case through a plea agreement.

“The Court is hopeful for a good turnout for this program and that it will continue to for years to come.”

All persons who believe they may have an outstanding warrant are encouraged to check the Bellefontaine Municipal Court website and call the court with questions at (937) 599-6127.

Everyone wanting to participate in the Safe Surrender Day should appear during the scheduled hours and take some form of identification with them.
