Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded about 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22 to a complaint of menacing at a Grove Avenue residence in Lakeview.
Steven A. McCafferty Jr., 50, of Bellefontaine, reportedly drove his pickup truck on the streets around a Grove Avenue home before getting out of the truck in front of the property and making face-to-face verbal threats to one of the home’s residents. McCafferty then got in his truck and left the scene.
Other residents of the home and witnesses at the scene verified McCafferty’s actions. Children living at the residence were taken inside the home by another adult as the verbal exchange escalated.
McCafferty, who is known to the resident, was later located at his Bellefontaine home and arrested without incident.
The suspect told deputies he confronted the resident out of concern for the well-being of the children living in the home.
He was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
