Bellefontaine’s boys basketball team received a major scare down the stretch Tuesday night, but the Chieftains were able to hang on to edge visiting Graham 56-55 in a Central Buckeye Conference crossover game.
The Chiefs improve to 3-9, while the Falcons slip to 4-9. Bellefontaine was in control for much of the night.
The Chiefs led 22-16 after one quarter and they enjoyed a 13-point cushion (39-26) at halftime.
Bellefontaine still had a comfortable lead after three quarters as it led 50-41.
However, the Falcons outscored the Chiefs 14-6 in the final period to provide a great deal of suspense.
C.J. Wilson led the Chieftains with 13 points. Riley Neer and Jair Mundy each scored 10 points, Jacob Salyer had eight points and Patrick Stolly and Jamison Clement each chipped in six points.
Brody Jenkins led the Falcons with a game-high 28 points.
In the junior varsity game, Bellefontaine won 53-37. CJ Butler led the Chiefs with 15 points and Spencer Stolly had 11.
Bellefontaine is back in action Friday at home against Urbana.
