Bakers reap sweet rewards

Tuesday morning brought all the sweet treats to the foreground as judges chose winners from the Home Goods department of the Open Class. Top prizes went to, from left: Sharyn Kopf—Best of Show in the adult candies division (chocolate peanut butter fudge with candied bacon); Karen Wisse — Reserve Best of Show, cookies (turtle); Anita Green — Best of Show, specialty (hand pies) and Reserve Best of Show, adult candies (truffles); Barb McKeen — Reserve Best of Show, specialty (coffee cake); Ashley Vicario-Holtkamp — Best of Show, cakes (chocolate); and Karla Johnson — Best of Show, baking made healthier (avocado chocolate cake) and Reserve Best of Show, cakes (chocolate cherry chip). These — plus all of the blue and red ribbon winners in the adult and youth divisions — will be auctioned off in front of the Grange building at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 12.
