The Logan County History Center and the Logan County Land Trust welcome “Historic Barns of Ohio” author and painter Robert Kroeger for a special event Thursday, April 13, at the History Center, 521 E. Columbus Ave.
The activities are free and open to the public.
The first presentation begins with a 4 p.m. painting demonstration at the atrium of the Transportation Museum.
Kroeger will offer a painting demo of an old barn, using palette knives and impasto technique.
During this session, the Logan County Land Trust will be selling raffle tickets to win this painting and other items as a fundraiser. The winner will be drawn at a later date.
The presenter will take a break at 5 p.m. and then begins his program about barns he has painted and their stories at 6 p.m.
Following his program, Kroeger will have his books available for purchase and signing.
His first book, “Historic Barns of Ohio,” lists the paintings and essays of barns in all 88 Ohio counties (released by The History Press, March 2021).
His second book on old barns, “Round Barns of America,” will also be available. This book features 75 round barns in 32 states — from the East Coast to the West Coast — along with their paintings and stories. There are 11 Ohio round barns in the book (published by Acclaim Press in late 2022).
The History Center also will be open for tours between 4 to 6 p.m.
