Editor’s Note: Below is a portion of Bellefontaine attorney Tim Steinhelfer’s Dec. 3 statement in response to Lakeview Mayor Elaine Fagan-Moore’s announcement and subsequent statement at the village’s Dec. 2 council meeting related to the dismissal of the case seeking her removal from office. Steinhelfer represented the practitioners who sought Fagan-Moore’s removal.
LAKEVIEW MAYOR FALSELY TOUTS CASE DISMISSAL AS VINDICATION
On November 27, 2024, the parties in Logan County Case No. 24-09-0278 jointly dismissed the action for removal of Elaine Fagan-Moore as mayor of Lakeview.
Last night, during the Lakeview Village Council meeting, Mayor Elaine Fagan-Moore chose to launch personal attacks against the courageous petitioners seeking her removal and pass around copies of the stipulation of dismissal. She did this instead of addressing the pressing needs of the villagers, who are counting on leadership during these challenging times. Some people win gracefully. Predictably, Fagan-Moore did not.
In the interest of transparency, I am releasing the full transcript of Mayor Fagan-Moore’s deposition from the case. It provides her own account of her actions regarding disaster relief efforts, her qualifications for office, and her understanding of how the Village operates. The mayor’s own sworn testimony speaks for itself, and I encourage all to read it.
I remain committed to the principle that open courts are a hallmark of a civilized society, and all citizens must have access to the civil justice system.
