The important role teachers play in our society cannot be overstated. With that in mind, Quest Federal Credit Union once again sponsored their annual Teacher of the Year awards luncheon on Wednesday, May 3. Educators from six Logan County schools were recognized for their contributions to area students.

A brainchild of the Rotary Club, the ceremony is now in its fifth year. Quest CEO Matt Jennings served as Wednesday’s emcee. He expressed his appreciation to schools that teach financial literacy.

“We believe it’s important to honor our teachers all year,” Jennings said. “As we head toward graduation and the end of the school year, it’s an ideal time to tell our teachers thank you.”

Recipients are nominated by administrators, school staff and/or parents, then the winners are chosen by other educators who are knowledgeable in their fields.

Recognized for their contributions to teaching in 2023 were:

  • Danae Dray, Calvary Christian School, kindergarten.
  • Christina Fullerton, Indian Lake Middle School, sixth-grade math and science.
  • Mollie Johns, Benjamin Logan Elementary School, kindergarten.
  • Jason Robinson, Ohio Hi-Point (OHP) Career Center, social studies.
  • Jack Switzer, Riverside Middle School (represented by literacy coach Danielle King), social studies.
  • Jeanie Tipple, Bellefontaine High School, Spanish.

The event took place at the Ohio Hi-Point Sloan Inn and included a barbecue lunch, which was prepared by culinary students at OHP.
