Indian Lake Schools staff members hopped on a school bus just after the Opening Day program Monday morning, Aug. 19. They took a tour of the district to visit some of the important places where our students go after school and to see some of the tornado destruction and cleanup. Staff members were able to check out the Chippewa Neighborhood Outreach Center, where many students receive homework help, afternoon snacks and different kinds of social services on the northside of Indian Lake. In addition, the buses made a stop at the Indian Lake Community Church Lookout after-school facility in Russells Point. Staff members were able to see where many kids hang out after school, grab a coffee from Gathering Grounds and even stock up on some school supplies. Buses also took the groups through several neighborhoods where Indian Lake students and their families reside. The tour ended at Laker Stadium with a cookout hosted by the Food Service team.
