A ‘sad/glad day in West Liberty’

After spending years trying to work through financial and legal issues — and the ongoing problem with vultures — demolition of the old West Liberty Elementary School started on Monday, April 7. For Jayne Griffith, West Liberty village council president, the project comes with mixed emotions. Still, she thanked the Logan County Land Bank and former village mayor Jill McKelvey for getting the project started and finding the needed funds. “This year through the Brownfield grant, the mission is finally being accomplished,” Griffith said. The village anticipates it will take about 10 days to tear the structure down. (SUBMITTED PHOTO)
