Summons issued for possession of drugs

Jorrell Johnson, 19, of Bellefontaine, was charged around midnight Saturday, Dec. 31, with possession of marijuana.

Officers on patrol observed his vehicle parked at Speedway, 329 S. Main St., and made contact with him. While speaking with the suspect, officers noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from his person. Johnson admitted to having just smoked marijuana and a smell of marijuana was also observed coming from the vehicle, officers report. A probable cause search of the vehicle turned up two burnt marijuana joints and a clear plastic bag containing a small amount of marijuana. Driver lodged for stolen license plate

Divonti Preston, 31, of West Virginia, was arrested around 2:15 p.m. Friday and charged with receiving stolen property after officers on patrol received a report that the vehicle he was driving, a silver-colored Saturn coupe, was displaying a license plate that had been reported stolen from a white Nissan hatchback out of Montgomer County.

A traffic stop was conducted on west Sandusky Avenue near County Road 32. The suspect reported to police he had recently purchased the vehicle for $900 and the license plate was on the vehicle at the time of the purchase. He told police he was en route to Sidney to drop the vehicle off.

A raw odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle prompted a probable cause search. That search turned up marijuana, and a state of Georgia driver’s license belonging to a female the suspect also had in his possession.

Preston was lodged in Logan County Jail. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
