West Liberty woman indicted after alleged threat to kill judge

A Logan County grand jury handed up indictments this week amending charges against a DeGraff man who threatened the life of a woman living with him.
Grand jury members also indicted a West Liberty woman who allegedly threatened to kill a Logan County Family Court judge.
In a superseding indictment, Dennis R. Riley, 43, of DeGraff, now faces two counts of attempted murder, first-degree felonies; strangulation, a third-degree felony; and misdemeanor domestic violence. There is firearm specification added to the charges.
In December, officers of the Washington Township Police Department were dispatched to 2639 Township Road 247, north of DeGraff, prosecutors report.
Riley allegedly threatened to kill himself and went to a shed at the property. He then reportedly discharged a firearm but did not harm himself.
Officers investigated further and learned that Riley allegedly brandished a gun during domestic violence incidents between September and December which led the female victim to believe he intended kill her.
Riley has been in the Logan County Jail since January with a bond set at $1 million. He is slated to stand trial on April 6.
In the case involving threats directed at a Family Court judge, Cynthia J. McClure, 60, of West Liberty, has been charged with intimidation, a third-degree felony.
Prosecutors report McClure was subject to an ongoing custody case and had been ordered to undergo periodic drug screenings.
While meeting with a probation officer in February for a scheduled screening, McClure allegedly told the probation officer she would put out a hit and have the judge murdered if the judge revoked her custody rights.
