TORRANCE, Calif. — Riding the momentum of a refreshed brand image and one of its strongest sales performances of the decade, American Honda is heading into 2026 with confidence, a robust product pipeline and growing demand for hybrids and electrified vehicles.

American Honda reported 1,430,577 vehicles sold in the U.S. in 2025, marking its best sales year since 2021 and a 0.5 percent increase over 2024, the automaker shared in a Jan. 14 media release.

The total represents a clear rebound from recent years affected by supply-chain disruptions and semiconductor shortages, and keeps Honda well above its pandemic-era lows earlier in the decade.

By comparison, Honda U.S. sales peaked at more than 1.6 million units annually before 2020, dipped sharply during global supply disruptions, and have steadily climbed back—making 2025 a key milestone in the brand’s recovery.

“Our lineup is one of the freshest in the industry as we head into 2026,” said Lance Woelfer, vice president of sales for American Honda. “We’re focused on delivering the right mix of gas-powered and hybrid vehicles that customers want—at prices that still represent strong value.”

2025 sales highlights

  • Honda CR-V surpassed 400,000 units sold for the second straight year, with hybrids accounting for 54 percent of sales.

  • Electrified models—including CR-V Hybrid, Accord Hybrid, Civic Hybrid, Prelude and the all-electric Prologue—posted record sales for the third consecutive year.

  • Despite lean inventories late in the year, Honda outperformed broader market headwinds.

Looking ahead to 2026

Honda projects U.S. sales of 1.5 million vehicles in 2026, a 4 percent increase, as the overall industry market is expected to level off in the high-15-million to low-16-million range.

  • Honda brand sales are projected to exceed 1.35 million units.

  • Acura is targeting approximately 135,000 units.

To address affordability concerns as new-vehicle prices remain near record highs, Honda plans to boost production of value-oriented trims across core models such as CR-V, Civic and Accord, along with entry Acura vehicles like the ADX and Integra.

Acura’s next generation focuses heavily on electrification and new hybrid tech, with the all-electric RSX SUV set for a 2026.

Acura: hybrids, EVs and performance updates

  • The Acura RSX electrified SUV will arrive in the second half of 2026 and will be built in Marysville, Ohio, alongside gasoline and hybrid vehicles.

  • The Integra Type S will receive interior and exterior updates.

  • MDX enhancements are planned for late 2026.

  • The next-generation Acura RDX, produced at the East Liberty plant, will introduce the brand’s first two-motor hybrid system. Production of the current RDX, first launched in 2018, will pause this year after achieving nearly 740,000 cumulative U.S. salessince its 2006 debut.

Honda: refreshed favorites and new tech

  • The updated 2026 Honda Pilot is arriving at dealerships with a larger touchscreen, quieter cabin, refined steering and upgraded safety features.

  • S+ Shift, a simulated performance transmission feature debuting on the Prelude, will be added to the Civic Hybrid.

  • The Civic Type R will see styling updates for 2026.

Honda Base Station

Honda also revealed a prototype of the Honda Base Station, a compact, towable travel trailer developed at Honda’s U.S. R&D centers in California and Ohio. Designed to fit in a residential garage and towable by vehicles such as the CR-V and Prologue, the Base Station targets the rapidly growing outdoor recreation market, which now includes more than 80 million U.S. campers.

Built in America

Honda has manufactured vehicles in the U.S. for more than 40 years and now operates eight major American plants. In 2025, about 99 percent of Honda vehicles sold in the U.S. were built in North America, with roughly 60 percent made in the United States. Acura reported that more than 85 percent of its U.S. sales were American-built.

With strong 2025 sales, a refreshed brand identity and a growing mix of hybrids and EVs, Honda enters 2026 positioned to build on its recovery—and push closer to its pre-pandemic sales highs once again.

In the broader Central Ohio region, Honda’s Ohio operations—including the Marysville Auto Plant, East Liberty Auto Plant and Anna Engine Plant and Honda Transmission Mfg. in Russells Point —employ thousands of Ohio residents, with various reports estimating the company’s statewide workforce at approximately 13,000 to 15,000 employees.
