A North Lewisburg man is facing a host of traffic charges following a traffic stop by officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department just after midnight Sunday, Oct. 12.
According to the report, officers observed Andrew D. Schellenbaum, 41, making numerous traffic violations – including driving without headlights and drifting in and out of marked lanes in the downtown area at 12:58 a.m.
When officers stopped Schellenbaum on east Chillicothe Avenue, he reportedly drove on the curb before coming to a stop.
After showing signs of obvious intoxication and failing field sobriety tests, Schellenbaum was arrested, when he reportedly admitted to taking prescription medication, drinking alcohol earlier in the day and smoking marijuana prior to getting behind the wheel.
The defendant was transported other Bellefontaine Police Department, where it was learned that he had a prior OVI conviction and no current valid driver’s license. He cooperated in taking a breathalyzer test, but reportedly refused to provide a urine sample.
He was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, OVI/refusal to cooperate following a prior convection, no operator’s license, failure to reinstate, illegal use of headlight beams, turn signal violation, improper turn and failure to drive in marked lanes.
Schellenbaum was released to a sober driver.
• Kenneth J. Wilkinson, 48, of rural DeGraff, was arrested Sunday at 11:13 p.m. after he was found passed out in a lawn in the 100 block west Williams Avenue.
Police were able to rouse Wilkinson and transported him to Mary Rutan Hospital for examination.
Officers then learned at this time that Wilkinson had an active warrant out for his arrest for failure to appear on a burglary charge. Once he was treated and released from the hospital, he was arrested and lodged in the Logan County Jail.
Domestic violence arrest reported
Tyler R. Karg, 51, of Bellefontaine, was arrested at 2:24 a.m. Sunday following an incident at his home where he reportedly assaulted his partner following an argument over the possession of a TV remote control.
The victim left the scene and reported the assault at the Bellefontaine Police Department, claiming that Karg caused their recent injuries, including cuts on their lip and elbow, as well as visible injuries to their chest and stomach.
Officers were then dispatched to Karg’s residence on the west side of the city and arrested him on the charge of domestic violence before taking him to the Logan County Jail.
