A Bellefontaine woman was issued a summons Tuesday, Oct. 7, at 4:50 p.m. after her two pit bulls reportedly attacked a woman on the west side of the city, causing severe injuries to the face and arms of the victim.
The Bellefontaine EMS was already on the scene treating the victim for dog bites when officers from the Bellefontaine Police Department arrived. After investigation, it was learned that the two dogs were owned by Deanna Legge, 66, of Bellefontaine. A passerby was able to pull the dogs off the victim and place them in their kennels.
The victim was transported to Miami Valley Hospital for treatment of the dog bites.
Legge was issued a summons for dogs at large and a dangerous dog form was completed. The Logan County Health Department was also notified of the attack.
No update on the condition of the victim was available.
OVI arrest reported
Jeffery Hill, 70, of Bellefontaine was arrested and charged with OVI following a traffic stop by the Bellefontaine Police Department at 8:50 p.m. Tuesday, October 7.
Officers report that they initiated the traffic stop after they observed Hill fail to use his signaling device before making turns in the downtown area and had to engage both lights and sirens before Hill stopped his vehicle in the parking lot of a business.
Hill reportedly exited his vehicle at this time and approached the police cruiser on foot.
Officers report that Hill’s showed signs of intoxication and after questioning, admitted to having been drinking.
He failed field sobriety tests at the scene and was then placed under arrest for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs and transported to the Bellefontaine Police Department, where he submitted to a urine test before being released to a sober driver.
