A Belle Center area woman was arrested Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 7, after she was stopped along U.S. Route 33 and found to be driving under an operating a vehicle while intoxicated-related license suspension.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office reported observing a vehicle traveling east on U.S. 33 near State Route 292 around 3:40 p.m. when a registration check revealed the registered owner, identified as Taylor L. Newman, 30, had an active suspension for an OVI administrative violation.
Deputies initiated a traffic stop and made contact with Newman, who was the lone occupant in the vehicle. She reportedly admitted knowing her license was suspended and said she did not have driving privileges.
During the stop, deputies observed an open can of alcohol inside the car. A search of the vehicle turned up empty and unopened cans of alcohol.
Newman was arrested for driving under OVI suspension and was also cited for having an open container of alcohol in the vehicle.
She was transported to the Logan County Jail, where she was lodged.
