Benjamin Logan got a 2-0 win over London at home in Central Buckeye Conference boys soccer on Wednesday night.

It was the ninth shutout for the team this season.

The win raises the Raiders’ season record to 11-3-1 and the league mark to 7-1-1. They have clinched the Mad River Division title for the fourth time in the last six years.

Landen Simon and Luke Vesely scored goals, with Simon and Aidan Todd having assists. Senior goalkeeper Joe Meeker kept the Red Raiders off the board.

Coach Jamie Hughes said, ““I can’t say enough about how proud I am of these young men. We have been banged up and stretched in about every direction and it’s been difficult to even get much practice in since August. But these guys show up every game and play their hearts out and have put together quite the amazing season. Getting back on top in the league was goal number one since we started the season and to be able to clinch that with a game remaining takes a lot of pressure off of our shoulders next week. I’m just really happy for these guys and I know I meant a lot to them, they deserve it.”

Ben Logan will wrap up the regular season with games at home against Tecumseh on Monday and Kenton on Wednesday. Both get under way at 5:30 p.m.

BOYS

Graham 2, Bellefontaine 0

Bellefontaine was defeated by Graham in CBC play Wednesday at home.

The Falcons scored midway through the first and again early in the second half.

Coach Steve Henry said, “This was an emotional game that could have gone either way, but we need to focus on more of the things we can control — awareness, positioning, toughness and energy.

“The last 10 minutes of the  game we played with urgency and intensity. We had several chances. If we could take that energy and play the full 80 minutes, we’d be a different team. But that mental switch is hard for some players to be able to turn on themselves. They need a situation to trigger it.”

The Chieftains are now 1-7 in the conference and 2-11 overall. They finish the season next week with games at Shawnee on Monday, and home against Urbana Wednesday and Elida on Oct. 11.
