Indian Lake takes first at own cross country invitational

Indian Lake hosted a cross country invitational on Saturday, with both the Lakers boys and girls squads taking first place.

There were three teams for the girls. Indian Lake had 20 points, Ben Logan 43 and Graham 70. Others runners were from Gilead Christian, Sidney and Riverside. There were 41 runners in the field.

Nena Green of Gilead Christian won the race in a time of 19:49, followed by two of her teammates.

Laura Metzger (21:24), Regan Rash (22:04) and Evie Wagner (22:13) were the next three runners across the finish line, and were the first three scored. Rounding out the team result were Alicia Brielmaier (fifth, 22:59) and Haley Metzger (ninth, 24:01).

Other runners and their times were Kayleigh Taylor (24:22); Karlee Taylor (30:23), Olivia Albert (30:24) and Lara Hagedorn (30:25).

For the Lady Raiders, Gwen Smith was scored sixth (23:07), followed by Lucy  Wenger (7th, 23:19); Mollie Siefring (8th, 23:45); Lauren Kennedy (10th, 24:07); and Lottie Bodin (12th, 24:48).

Others in action were Bonnie Brunson (24:50); Peyton Smith (25:05); Elliott Butler (25:18); Illiana Vermillion (27:01); Montana Coleman (27:24); Maille Ricketts (30:32) and Natalie Chapman (42:21).

Kristen Thompson (36:22) and Maggie Beaty (37:06) ran for the Lady Pirates. They were 39th and 40th.

BOYS

The Lakers boys finished with 40 points, ahead of Graham (45), Ben Logan (56) and Sidney (76).

Gilead Christian and Riverside competed as individuals, which had 35 runners.

Nathan White took fourth place for the Lakers (18:46), followed by Aidan Stinebaugh (19:10); Will Faler (19:14); Cason Lacher (19:16); and Titus Kelly (19:30). Evan Wu had a time of 35:35.

Ben Logan had Tyler Shoopman finish in third place (18:43). He was followed by Greyson Butler (sixth, 19:04); Oliver Morse (10th, 19:21); Maxwell Troth (13th, 19:57); and Miles Granbois (24th, 26:29).

Aiden Fout was 23rd (20:58) and Brenden Lattimer 32nd (26:45) for Riverside.

Tigers run at Berlin

The West Liberty-Salem boys and girls were part of the field at the Bear Den Dash at Olentangy Berlin.

The Big Orange girls took first place in the Double Blue Division out of 18 teams. They had 61 points.

The top five were Malia Miller (2nd, 19:52); Addi Wallen (5th, 20:10); Isla Leichty (11th, 20:31); Elia Matthews (20th, 21:17); and Gwen McCullough (23rd, 21:23). Charlee Albers was 53rd (22:31).

Coach Aaron Lauck said, “This was a solid performance against some larger schools. We felt we would have benefitted more from running in the elite team race, but are pleased with the win. We continue to improve and are gearing up for the conference meet.”

The boys took sixth place out of 26 teams. There were 180 runners in the field.

The top five for the Big Orange were Asher Cole (18th, 15:53); Caleb Larson (34th, 16:09); Dylan King (39th, 16:13); Brayan Gullett (41st, 16:15) and Garrett Wallen (124th, 17:19).

Also in the varsity race were Eric Hoover (17:45) and Gauge Lee (18:43).

Running in the JV race were Zeke Longshore (18:06); Zac Carter (18:51); Zeke Sidders (19:58); Landon McKenzie (20:16); Danny Erne (21:01); Isaiah Barth (22:29); Jackson Henry (23:23); and Levi Miller (23:38).

JUNIOR HIGH

In the middle school races, Ben Logan had 28 points and Indian Lake 47 for the girls.

For the Lakers, it was Abby Bihn (1st, 12:44), Caroline Jones (3rd, 14:31); Abby Arnett (13th, 19:55); Raelyn Hoge (14th, 19:55.6); and Ella Wu (16th, 21:15), plus Faye Gruber (22:53) and Tenzlee Pyles (23:08).

Bihn’s time set a new course record, breaking the mark of 13:32.

The Lady Raiders had Pippa Zvansky (second, 13:12); Shelby Siefring (fourth, 15:22); Makinnly Allen (fifth, 15:29); Elizabeth Bramlage (8th, 16:25); and Kennedi Cline (ninth, 16:55). Also running were Carolyn Wickline (17:07); Paige Courtney (17:12); Mia Cook (17:53); Juliana Chapman (24:32) and Alexis Gootee (24:58).

The Lakers boys took first place with 20 points and Ben Logan had 35.

Running for Indian Lake were race winner Hayden Kuhlke (11:52); Logan Kuhlke (2nd, 12:39); Hayden Thompson (fourth, 14:19); Brantley Bowers (sixth, 14:38); and Dalton Young (seventh, 14:45).

Hayden Kuhlke’s time was a course record, beating the previous time of 12:16.

Ben Logan was represented by Zayden Wilson (third, 13:40); John Tingley (fifth, 14:34); Hunter Winnen (eighth, 14:57); Brooks Bodin (ninth, 16:47); and Obadiah Fahle (10th, 17:23), plus Kolt Hays (18:13).


Chiefs middle schoolers compete in North Union

Bellefontaine’s runners were in the field at an invitational hosted by North Union. There were seven teams.

The Chieftains boys took first place. Jackson Maus was third (12:10), followed by Sennett Stolly (5th, 12:37); Camden Vollrath (7th, 12:42); Bennett Lang (13th, 13:07); and Lucas Lin (23rd, 13:37).

Others on the course were Anthony Carter (14:24); Owen Smith (14:39); Jayden Lambert (14:50) and Malek Alhaj (21:07).

The girls finished in third place. The top five were Kylie Lowe (2nd, 13:16); Baya Deal (8th, 14:04); Alivia Owens 914th, 15:12); Mia Regula (17th, 15:48) and Bentley Drake (29th, 17:07), with Myra Varner (18:47) also in action.
