Area golf teams compete in league, sectional tournaments

BOYS

The Central Buckeye Conference held its league tournament for boys golf on Tuesday at Locust Hills Golf Club.

Jonathan Alder had 297 to lead the Kenton Trail division teams, with Bellefontaine (360) finishing fourth.

Kyle Boop had a round of 84, Collen Brugler 87, Noah Smith 93 and Cody Hudson had 96. Other scores were Landon Severt (124) and Christian Sterling (127).

The Chieftains wound up fifth in their division for the season. They were 2-8 in the CBC and are 2-9 overall.

In the Mad River division, Northwestern was first with a team score of 319. Indian Lake was fourth with 347 and Ben Logan sixth with 444. They were also fourth and sixth in the division for the year.

Jaxon Snipes had the low round for the Lakers at 84. He was followed by Cooper Hall (86), Crew McPherson (88) and Joe Cummins (89). Also in action were Kade Richardson (94) and Matthew Culp (113).

Indian Lake is 5-5 in the CBC and 8-9 overall. The Raiders are 0-10 in the league and overall.

Ben Logan, Bellefontaine and West Liberty-Salem will meet for a match at Liberty Hills today at 4 p.m. Indian Lake has completed its regular season.

The Division II sectional tournament will be Tuesday at Windy Knoll Golf Club for Indian Lake and Ben Logan. Bellefontaine plays in the Division I tournament on Wednesday, also at Windy Knoll.

Pirates, Spartans play in sectional

SIDNEY — Riverside and Calvary Christian took part in the Division III sectional tournament on Tuesday at Shelby Oaks.

Lehman Catholic had 313, Botkins 327, Russia 333, and Emmanuel Christian 339 to advance to the district tournament.

Calvary Christian finished 11th (387). Jace Harpst, Landon Jackson and Brant Zell all shot 96, with Jett Harpst at 99. Grayson Barnes rounded out play with a 111.

Riverside was 14th with a team score of 396. Hayden McCully led with 85, followed by Hayden Sanford (98), David Gross (103) and Syler Clark (110).

Individual qualifiers for districts were Reece LeFevre of Fort Recovery (75), Tristan Woolley of Jackson Center (78), Cannon Hazelbaker of Jackson Center (82) and Gabe Barhorst of Troy Christian (82).

Both are back in action today as Riverside plays in the TRC tournament at Cherokee Hills and Calvary Christian in the Metro Buckeye Conference tourney.

GIRLS GOLF

Lady Tigers advance to district

XENIA — The West Liberty-Salem girls placed fourth and won a tiebreaker at the Division II sectional tournament on Wednesday at WGC Golf Course.

Southeastern was first with 365, Northwestern second at 371 and Archbishop Alter third with 389.

The Tigers tied with Valley View and Waynesville with a team score of 404.

Geneva Estep had the low round of 91 for WL-S. Olivia Reichardt and Taylor Cook each had 103. Marisa Smith finished at 107, as did Grace Jones.

Marley Young of Calvary Christian competed as an individual and shot 115.

The district tournament is Oct. 1 at Pipestone Golf Club in Dayton.

 

CBC holds league tourney

The Central Buckeye Conference girls golf tournament was played Tuesday at Locust Hills.

In the Mad River division, Indian Lake was second (401) to Northwestern (380). Ben Logan took fourth place (410).

Alex Kinney had a 92 and was named first-team all-CBC. She was followed by Taylor Klofta (95), Adriana Andrus (105) and Lily Michael (109). Also in play was Chloe Borgerding (111).

Ben Logan’s low round belonged to Catherine Bramlage with 97, and she was named to the first team for the CBC. Leah Braddock was next (101), followed by Bea Warren and Annika Schmidt, each with 106.

Other scores were Kaylynn Crumm (110) and Sophia VanVoorhis (119).

In the Kenton Trail division, London (374) was first, Bellefontaine had a team score of 400 to finish fourth.

For the Lady Chieftains, Elliott Lang had 89, Gillian Steele shot 95, Olivia Dearwester 107 and Allison Myers 109. Others in action were Thessaly Reminder (114) and Ella Fultz (117).

Bellefontaine will be in the Division I tournament today at Echo Hills in Piqua.

The Lakers and Raiders will compete in the Division II sectional tournament next Wednesday at Stillwater Golf Course in Versailles.

Pirates top Ridgemont

Riverside defeated Ridgemont 214 to 225 in a nonleague match on Tuesday at Cherokee Hills.

Reaghan McDaniel was the medalist with 36. Whitney Leatherman and Lei Hurley each had 59s and Adalynn Calaway shot 60. Also in action was Grace Owen with 68.

Riverside will be in the Division II sectional at Versailles next Wednesday.
