Calvary Christian lost to visiting Triad in a nonleague match on Monday. The Lady Cardinals won 25-13, 25-14 and 25-11.
Ava Cole had seven kills and three aces. Grace Zell made 11 assists and Claire Heater got six kills.
Coach Kelsey Carter said the team has vastly improved its control and knowledge from last year. “We are just continuing to chip away and hope to keep improving as the year goes on,” she said.
The Lady Spartans (0-1 Metro Buckeye, 1-8) host Legacy Christian Academy tonight.
Lakers top Botkins in five sets
BOTKINS — Indian Lake outlasted Botkins in a nonleague match that went the distance on Monday night.
Botkins won the first set 25-14, with the Lakers taking the second 25-18, Botkins got set three 25-22, then the Lakers responded with a 26-24 win to force the tiebreaker.
That went to Indian Lake by a count of 15-11.
Riley Ross had 19 digs, with Addison Beck adding 11.
Cami Bailey had 17 kills, two blocks, seven digs and two aces. Courtney Altstaetter hd 13 kills.
Annie Rapp made five kills, had nine digs and two aces. Kit Miller recorded eight kills, nine digs and two aces, and Addy Roby provided 42 assists, and had three aces.
The JV team lost 25-9, 25-15. Audra Harford had three kills, Piper Warnecke eight digs and Kyler Carruthers seven digs.
The freshmen team won 23-25, 25-11, 25-18. Lux Kipker had 10 assists and Layna Nessler nine. Claire Tidwell had nine kills, Piper Robinson seven and Audra Harford five.
Indian Lake (2-0 CBC, 8-1 overall) visits Ben Logan this evening.
Houston 3, Riverside 0
Riverside lost to Houston in three sets on Saturday.
Houston won 25-22, 25-22, and 25-20. For the Pirates, Kara Klingler had 11 assists and Zoey Ransbottom had seven. Miah Carman had eight kills and nine digs. Valerie Knight had seven kills, and Emilee Robinson made nine digs.
The junior varsity won 25-14, 25-19. Ellie Zwiebel had 15 assists, Kenzie Stotler had nine digs and Addison Shoe, eight digs and six kills.
