Nancy L. Mills, 89, of Wooster, passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at Smithville Western Care Center after a period of declining health.
Nancy was born to the late David and Mildred (Smith) Kotterman on April 15, 1936, at the home of her grandparents’ George and Blanche Smith in rural Wyandot County, OH.
The family later moved to Logan County, OH. Nancy graduated from Belle Center High School and The Ohio State University in 1958 with a degree in home economics education. She taught school at DeGraff in Logan County. and Gettysburg in Darke County. After moving to Wayne County, she continued working in the county schools as a substitute teacher.
Nancy was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, most recently of the Shreve Community Church. She was active in the United Methodist Women, holding offices at the local and district conferences.
She is survived by her four children, Ken (Lisa) Mills of Jacksonville, FL, Nina (Bill) Orem of Wooster, OH, Glenn (Gaye) Mills of Celina, OH, and Rita (Don) Gasser of Shreve, Ohio; 9 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Charles Kotterman.
A graveside funeral service for Nancy will be held 11:00am Thursday, September 11, 2025 at Plain Cemetery in Wooster, OH with Pastor Nathanael Fugate officiating.
The family would like to say a special “thank you” to the staff at Smithville Western Care and to Sprenger Hospice Care for the compassion that was shown to Nancy and the family.
