Donald E. Rice, 66, of Lakeview, OH passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Mary Rutan Emergency Department, Bellefontaine, OH.
Donald was born on November 11, 1958, in Bellefontaine, a son Eldred E. “Gene” Rice, who survives in Lakeview, and the late Lula (Stratton) Rice. He was also preceded in death by his son, Jason Rice, and half-brother, Gary Miller.
Don is survived by his father, Gene, grandson, Joseph Rice of Lakeview, two half-brothers, Harry Miller of Anna, OH, and Barry Miller of Seattle, WA, and several nieces and nephews.
Don was a 1976 graduate of Indian Lake High School. He retired from Airstream in Jackson Center, OH after 33 years. At the age of 3, his family moved to Southern California, and they lived there for 10 years before returning to Ohio. He played baseball and participated in high jump while in school. Don was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and NASCAR.
Funeral services will begin at 1:00 pm, Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St., Lakeview. Visitation is Friday, August 8th from 5-7 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Huntsville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in Don’s Memory to Doyle R. Miller Amvets Post #39 Community Charities.
