Two West Liberty men were arrested by the Bellefontaine Police Department in the early morning hours of Tuesday, June 24, following an incident at a local business on the east side of the city.
According to the police report, officers were called to Speedway, 600 W. Sandusky,, at about 3:25 a.m. Tuesday on the report of two suspicious persons who were reportedly lingering in the store.
After making a purchase, Roblero Frey Garcia, 30, left the store and entered his vehicle on the driver’s side, while Yordi Ramirez Morales-Urias, 23, also after making a purchase, was stopped and questioned by officers as he exited the store. Both claimed to be residents of West Liberty at that time. Officers noted a number of empty beer bottles in plain sight in the vehicle and after questioning, both men admitted to having consumed alcohol while the vehicle. Both were able to produce IDs that were issued in Mexico.
Officers noticed the odor of alcohol on Garcia, after which he refused to submit to field sobriety tests. He was taken into custody and placed in a holding cell at the Bellefontaine Police Department, when he submitted to a breathalyzer test which revealed a BAC of 0.118.
Garcia was booked on charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs, no operator’s license and open container in a motor vehicle. Morales-Urias was also arrested and charged with disorderly conduct by intoxication and open container in a motor vehicle. Both were transported and lodged in the Logan County Jail.
As neither suspect had either a valid Ohio or United States ID, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) was notified of the arrests, but as of Wednesday morning, no response has been received from ICE regarding the legal residential status of the two suspects.
Employee charged with theft
Police also reported the arrest of Jonathan M. Kramer, 44, of 1117 N. Main St., at about 8:45 a.m. Tuesday.
According to police, Kramer, an employee of Casey’s General Store, 1104 S. Main St., was caught on security cameras hiding some of the store’s receipts down the front of his pants.
Store employees notified the police of the situation and Kramer was soon located at the Super 8 Motel, where, again according to the report, he admitted to stealing cash from Casey’s after he was given his Miranda rights.
Kramer was then was arrested on a charge of theft and transported to the Logan County Jail.
