Tigers wrestlers fall to Indians in dual

The West Liberty-Salem boys wrestling team lost to Mechanicsburg 47-23 in a dual match on Wednesday.

The night began at 215 pounds, with Ronnie Thomas getting a pin in 58 seconds over Maverick Reams of WL-S.

Mechanicsburg’s Braeden Buxton (285) and the Tigers’ Wyatt Shoemaker (106) were unopposed.

There was no match at 113 pounds.

The Indians’ Camryn Runyon won by forfeit at 120 pounds. That made it 18-6 for Mechanicsburg.

At 126, Nolan Fraley battled WL-S’ Lucas Merriman. Fraley got a pin in the first period at 1:37.

Lance Saylor of the Tigers took on Connor Shultz at 132. Saylor eventually got a fall with 27 seconds left in the second period.

Kyler Langhardt followed up at 138 with a 21-6 tech fall victory over the Indians’ Bryden Ankrom.

Mechanicsburg answered with a tech fall of their won, as Wade Naff defeated Derek Wall 20-3.

After no match at 150, Quinn Rockenbaugh of the Indians pinned Robert Park in 1:29.

Silas Krabill got the Tigers’ last win of the night at 165, with a second-period pin over Aidan O’Neal.

The Tigers had no wrestler at 175 and 190 saw no match.

In an exhibition contest, Braeden Buxton pinned Maverick Reames in 58 seconds.

The Ohio Heritage Conference tournament is Feb. 15 in Mechanicsburg.
