The operating partner of a popular fast-casual chicken restaurant is hoping to succeed where his taco-centered predecessors failed.
Huey Magoo’s has officially opened at 2079 S. Main St., Bellefontaine, as of Wednesday, Feb. 5, according to a press release. The restaurant assumes the location previously occupied by Del Taco, which closed last winter. It is the 72nd Huey Magoo’s nationwide and the second in Ohio.
Operating Partner Gordon Lutz, who also oversees the chain’s Circleville location, said he is optimistic about the Bellefontaine market and has plans to open three additional locations in the state.
“We are big fans of Bellefontaine and the local community, and we are excited to be here,” Lutz said in a press release. “We think Huey Magoo’s is a great addition to the food offerings here.”
The new, 2,100-square-foot restaurant features a drive-thru and offers dine-in, carryout, catering, and online ordering. It is open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Customers can contact the restaurant at (937) 210-5134.
Huey Magoo’s specializes in grilled, hand-breaded, and sauced chicken tenders served as meals, salads, sandwiches, and wraps. The chain has steadily expanded in recent years, with more than 225 franchises sold across 12 states.
The Bellefontaine location marks another shift for the south Main Street site, which has seen multiple transitions in recent years. Before Del Taco, the building housed a Taco Bell.
