Phyllis Ann McKinley, 76, of Lakeview, OH, passed away Friday, January 10, 2025, in Vero Beach, FL.
Phyllis was born on January 28, 1948, in Lima, OH, a daughter of the late Howard and Marjorie (Austin) Thompson. She married Rex McKinley in 2003, and he preceded her in death on November 1, 2022. She is also preceded in death by a brother, James Thompson, and two sisters, Joyce Compton and Marlene Holbrook.
Phyllis is survived by two sons, Dennis (Geanna) England of Roundhead, and Darren (Kelly) England of Ashtabula, OH, three grandchildren, Shelby (Dustin) Ray, Logan (Sean) Morse, and Hunter (Ashleigh) England, six great grandchildren, Alex Morse, Camrie Ray, Jaxson Morse, Izabella Morse, Callan Ray, and Wrenley England, a sister, Jenelle Thompson of Columbus, OH, Thomas Thompson of Lima, OH, Edwin (Pam) Thompson of Findlay, OH, Brian Thompson and Jon (Monica) Thompson, both of Roundhead, several nieces and nephews and her canine companion, JoJo.
Phyllis was a 1966 graduate of Roundhead School. She worked several jobs in her life, but her favorites were working as a waitress at Dave’s Good Food and Pickering’s Restaurant in Lakeview, as well as working at TRC and Airstream. She was a member of Indian Lake Eagles Aeries #3615.
Phyllis enjoyed cooking, baking, flower gardening, playing cards, and games, going to the casino and riverboat, and could never pass up a good deal at thrift stores and garage sales. She was always ready for any occasion and loved her collection of clothing and jewelry. Phyllis’s greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Pastor David Holbrook will begin funeral services at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 18, at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St, Lakeview, with visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in Phyllis’s memory to a humane society of the donor’s choice.
