Brittany A. Burger, 41, of Russells Point, OH, passed away peacefully, early Monday morning, December 16, 2024, at her home after a courageous battle with cancer.
Brittany was born on October 4, 1983, in Mesa, AZ, a daughter of the late Marc Burger, and Beth Rettig Kautz, who resides in Russells Point. She was preceded in death by her father, and grandparents, Arthur and Betty Rettig, and Thomas and Ester Burger.
Brittany is survived by her mother, three children, Dalton Hurley, Kamaray Schaefer, both at home, and Hunter Schaefer of Uhrichsville, OH, her life partner, Mitch Schaefer, two stepbrothers, Everett Kautz II of Lima, OH, and Hunter Kautz of Columbus, OH, great aunt, Jean King of Atlanta, GA, and aunts and uncles, Bob Rettig of South Carolina, Joyce Burger Goare of Columbus, Diana Burger of St. Marys, OH, and Brian Burger of Lima, friend and Dalton’s father, Isaac Hurley.
Brittany was a 2002 graduate of Indian Lake High School where she was a member of National Honor Society, Key Club, Choir, and ran track. She furthered her education with a bachelor’s degree graduating Summa Cum Laude. Brittany worked at Henshen in Jackson Center, OH and at Vicario’s in Bellefontaine, OH. She enjoyed raising her houseplants, and working her gardens, making crafts, hiking, going to Yellow Springs, volunteering at school and caring for her furbabies, Anubis and Trump. Brittany’s greatest joy was being “Mom” and spending time with her children, as she loved to watch their participation in various activities including Kami’s dancing, and flag corps. She was extremely proud of Dalton and Kami, for their work ethic and dedication to their schoolwork.
Pastor Karen Blackburn will begin memorial services at 3:00 pm, Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St., Lakeview with visitation from 1-3 pm. Inurnment will be at a later date in Arlington Cemetery, Arlington, OH.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in Brittany’s memory to assist with Dalton and Kami’s scholarship at Quest Federal Credit Union, 148 W. Main St, Russells Point, OH 43348.
