The Chieftains girls keep going back and forth.

Bellefontaine has started the 2024-25 season by alternating wins and losses, and that continued Monday as they rallied to defeat visiting London 48-41. It was the first Central Buckeye Conference battle of the year for both squads.

The victory puts them at 3-2 overall, while London falls to 2-2 and 0-1 in the CBC. Bellefontaine had some slow going at the start, with a dry spell in the second quarter allowing London to build a five-point lead at the half.

The second half was a different case, with both teams getting hot in the third, and Bellefontaine staying that way down the stretch. The Chiefs had three players in double figures. Laila Butler led with 15, while Tiffany Boop had 13 and Quinlan Zedeker got 12.

“The second half was us taking it to the bucket,” said Bellefontaine coach Meghan Ashcraft. “We were offensively being stronger. We were rebound- ing more in the second half; we were playing better defense for sure. It starts with defense. Once you get that defense going, it helps us at the offensive end.”

For London, Chyann Lewis led with 12 points and Cameron Markley had nine.
