Bailey David Shafer, 25, of Urbana passed away unexpectedly on November 26, 2024, at his home.
Bailey was born on July 23, 1999, in Bellefontaine, Ohio to George and Nichole (Herron) Shafer. Bailey was a 2018 graduate of West Liberty-Salem. Bailey was a beautifully unique and beloved individual known for his adventurous spirit, creativity and infectious energy. Bailey’s creative side truly came out in his passion for painting, drawing and video editing. Bailey expressed his creativity in various forms. He loved to immerse himself in the world of Dungeons & Dragons or Warhammer, even extending into the world of video games.
Bailey enjoyed spending time with family. He especially loved spending time at the family cabin in Michigan whether fishing in the summer or ice fishing in the winter. Family was important to Bailey, especially his fur babies; Izzy his English Bulldog, his cat Grayson, and Tink and Blooper his new kittens.
Bailey was a natural athlete. He was an avid longboarder, known for his speed, agility and competitive drive. Bailey was a member of the Urbana YMCA, RAW Bodybuilders and the Church of Iron a.k.a. “The Gym”. Bailey absolutely loved spending time at the gym working out. His commitment to strength and wellness was matched by his dedication and determination for working out and bodybuilding. Baily was an AWESOME bodybuilder!
Bailey spent a lot of time becoming a man. He worked tirelessly to fight Greek Gods and demons in a land beyond. He was the indomitable human spirit personified. He faced the world. He was a storyteller, a jokester, both the king and the court jester. Bailey loved to tease people in a fun good-natured kind of way. He was a peacemaker, a guard dog, a brother and a friend all in one. Bailey will be loved and missed by all who knew him.
Bailey is survived by his parents, brothers, Reese (Alyia) Shafer, Holden Shafer; nephew, Ryker Joyce; grandparents, Bob & Rhonda Johnson, Rex & Diann Shaner, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Bailey is preceded in death by great-great grandparents Robert & Eva Duncan/Emil Davis, grandpa Larry Shafer, great grandpa Robert Duncan, grandpa Tony Sherman, great uncle Rodger Cordell, great grandma Janet Anderson, great grandparents, George & Virginia Shafer and Lowel & Helen Howard.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, in VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana, Ohio.
A celebration of life will follow at 6:00 P.M. in the funeral home with Reverend Mimi Ault officiating.
