Nora Thornton, 18, of Bellefontaine, was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance following a rear-end collision that occurred around 5:16 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 19, in the area of east Brown Avenue near Woodland Drive.
Thornton was westbound on east Brown Avenue in a 2012 Fiat when she struck the rear of a 2003 white Ford Explorer driven by Catherine Summers, 65, of Woodland Drive. Summers had been waiting on traffic to pass to turn left onto Woodland, officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department report.
No one was injured. The Thornton vehicle sustained heavy damage and was towed from the scene.
