BMS Robotics garner awards at first competition of 2024-25

The Bellefontaine Middle School Robotics season kicked off at the North Union Robotics Qualifier Saturday, Nov. 2. 

This event concluded with intense matches, highlighting the skill and creativity of teams from across the region as they battled for top honors in their first event of the season. 

Team 7865A members Anthony Carter, Cam Rutan, Owen Smith and Camden Vollrath took home the Judges Award, which recognizes a team that embodies the ideals of teamwork, persistence, and skill. Judges praised 7865A’s approach, commending their innovative solutions and commitment to fair play, noting how they had impressed both on and off the field.

Adding to the day’s accolades, Team 7865X members Chandler Herne, Landon Severt, and Christian Sterling won the Innovate Award, a prestigious recognition for their creative engineering and design. The award celebrates teams that think outside the box, and 7865X’s unique approach to their robot’s functionality and design was a standout to judges and spectators alike.

In a dramatic final match, Team 7865B members Greyson Huffman, Max Miranda, Charlie Moreland and Chloe O’Chocke fought hard but narrowly missed the top spot, ending the event as finalists after a strong performance throughout the day.

Alongside these award-winning teams, four other Bellefontaine teams made their mark with a successful debut event, showing promise for the season. With this qualifier now concluded, teams are already looking forward to their next events, eager to build on this experience and make improvements toward future success.
