Lori Jean Kirkpatrick, 63, of Springfield and formerly of Belle Center passed away on Friday, October 18, 2024, at her home. She was born in Kenton, Ohio on January 8, 1961, to the late Gordon E. and Annabel J. (Shaffer) Schroeder.

On February 11, 1992, she married James Kirkpatrick and he survives in Springfield.

She is also survived by her daughter, Abigail (Abigail Wilson) Kirkpatrick; stepdaughter, Jamie Kirkpatrick; sisters: Jane (Timothy) Hart and Kay (Richard) Ware; brothers: David (Deborah) Schroeder and Tom Schroeder; nephew, Ben Wilcox; and niece, Ashley Riggle.

Lori’s journey was extraordinary from the very beginning; she was born weighing less than two pounds, a testament to her resilience and just how special she really was. After earning her Bachelor’s degree in education, Lori dedicated over 30 years of her life to the Discovery Center, where she found her passion. It was clear to all who knew her that her work was more than just a job; it was her calling. Lori found immense joy in her role, cherishing not only the work she did, but also her co-workers that she considered family. She found joy in gardening, scrapbooking, and piecing together puzzles, often sharing these passions with her family.

A funeral service will be held for Lori at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main Street, Bellefontaine. Visitation will be two hours prior, from 4:00 to 6:00. A graveside service will take place on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Fairview McDonald Cemetery, 5357 State Route 67.
