Herman Edward “Ed” Hart

1637

Herman Edward Hart, born on April 29, 1934, in Springfield, Ohio to Clifford and Leota Hart (née Thornton) passed away peacefully in his home on October 6, 2024.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda, his brother, Jack Hart, and his ex-wife, Ann Dolores Rainey, the mother of his five children: Kip (Denisa) Hart, Lisa (Jim) Carpenter, Chris (Mary) Hart, Tim (Mandy) Hart, and Jay Hart. Ed is survived by his children, his stepdaughter, Michelle (Craig) Eppich, his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many friends and former employees. He will be greatly missed by all.

A graduate of Wittenberg University, Ed embodied the American dream as a self-made man who established two successful companies: Hart Industries, founded in 1967, and A&H in 1987. While Ed demanded a strong work ethic, he was just as quick to reward hard work. Whether boating on the lake, golfing, or traveling with Linda, Ed enjoyed life’s pleasures to the fullest.

He and Linda shared a special love for travel, with favorite destinations including Japan, Australia, Alaska, and Maui, where they wed in the early 2000s.

Those who knew him will remember Ed’s larger-than-life presence and his unwavering dedication to his family and friends. As he would say, “we’ll miss ya, kid.”

Dustin Wickersham will begin memorial services at 4:00 pm, Friday, October 11, 2024, at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St, Lakeview, with visitation from 2-4 pm. A celebration of Ed’s life will follow at Cranberry Resort.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Chippewa/ Russells Point Children’s Outreach Center of Indian Lake in honor of Ed’s legacy.
