A former husband and wife convicted previously relating to the theft of heavy machinery has been charged again in a new indictment involving an alleged speed boat scam.
Todd Allen Lamb, 50, and Karen Nicole Lamb, 42, both of DeLand, Florida were charged in July with multiple felony counts by secret indictment handed up by a Logan County grand jury.
Both defendants were indicted in Logan County Common Pleas Court after they allegedly stole from or defrauded at least three Ohio residents for an amount totaling over $650,000, as well stealing two boat engines. DeLand, FL is in Volusia County and according Volusia District Court records, the Lambs were divorced there in July 2022.
Todd and Karen Lamb were each charged with nine felonies by the grand jury, including four counts of grand theft, fourth-degree felonies; aggravated theft, a third-degree felony; theft from a person in a protected class, a first-degree felony; defrauding creditors, a fourth-degree felony; telecommunications fraud, a second-degree felony; and engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, a first-degree felony for the crimes that took place between December 2017 through December 2020.
Karen Lamb was arraigned July 16 on her nine charges in Logan County Common Pleas Court, and Todd Lamb was arraigned July 24. Both pleaded not guilty to the indictments.
Karen was released on her own recognizance on the condition that she maintain her address in DeLand. Todd Lamb was ordered to be fitted for an ankle monitor which must be worn at both his at his mother’s residence in West Liberty and at his home in DeLand.
The charges in Ohio stem from an alleged scheme in which the Lambs took money to build power or racing boats that were neither produced nor delivered. One victim reportedly paid over $300,000 for a boat that was never built.
