Golf Roundup: Woods leads Riverside boys past Calvary Christian

Jaxon Woods fired a one-under-par 35 to lead Riverside’s boys golf team to a 186-189 win over Calvary Christian at Cherokee Hills on Monday.

Hayden McCully had a 46 for the Pirates, Syler Clark shot a personal best 49 and Daniel Esh had 56.

Brant Zell led Calvary with a 44. Jace Harpst shot 45, Seth Jaunzemis had a 49, Leland Henry had 51, Colton Smith shot 59 and Dean Ropp had a 62.

Ben Logan drops two matches

Benjamin Logan’s boys golf team fell in a pair of recent matches.

The Raiders were defeated by Northwestern 153-209 on Tuesday at Liberty Hills. Caleb Knight led Ben Logan with a 48. Justin Elliot shot 50, Ivan King had 59, Matthew Cox shot 60 and Utah Coleman added a 64.

The Raiders then lost to Indian Lake 169-190 on Thursday at Prairie View. Knight paced Ben Logan with a 42. Elliot had 47, King carded a 49, Newland had 52, Cox shot 55 and Coleman had a 56.

Tigers fall to West Jefferson

West Liberty-Salem’s boys golf team lost to West Jefferson 174-181 in the final regular season match Thursday. The Tigers ended the season with a
record of 7-9.

Greyson Horsley led the Tigers with a 42, Sutton Wilcoxon had 44, Brock Burgel had a 48, Luke Thomas shot 49 and Teagon Miller had a 51.

WL-S will compete in the sectional tournament Wednesday at Reid Park.

GIRLS GOLF

Pirates earn win over Northeastern, take 2nd in tri-match

Riverside’s girls golf team defeated Northeastern 218-238 in a non-league match at National Golf Links.

Reaghan McDaniel was the medalist for the Pirates with a 42. Kenna Johnson had a 56, Zoie Armbruster posted 58, Kirstyn Carpenter shot 62 and Lei Hurley and Adalynn Calaway had 69s.

Riverside was in action Monday against Mechanicsburg and Minster. The Pirates and Minster both shot 206, with Minster getting the win on the fifth-score tiebreaker. The Indians were third with 249.

The Pirates’ Reaghan McDaniel was the medalist with a 39. Kenna Johnson shot 53, Kirstyn Carpenter had a personal-best 53, Zoie Armbruster shot 61, Lei Hurley had 65 and Adalynn Calaway had 67.

Lakers top Gophers, Wildcats

Indian Lake’s girls golf team won against Ridgemont 204-233 in recent action. Alex Kinney led the Lakers with a 44. Indian Lake also beat Kenton 201-259. Emma Meyer led the Lakers with a 43.
